An Act of Revenge
The name Poe brings to heading images of murderers and madmen, premature burials, and mysterious women who return from the dead (Poes life). Edgar Allen Poe was hotshot of the most creative writers and poets of his time. His writing style was unlike anything anyone has always read. He told stories of horror that give their readers chills. The Cask of Amontillado is one of Poes greatest short stories. This story has two main characters, Montresor and Fortunato. In this story, Fortunato insulted Montresor, so Montresor vowed revenge. Fortunato is a actually exultant character, so Montresor plays on Fortunatos pride to lure him to the catacombs under the city where Montresor traps him. The lengths Montresor went to keep up revenge on Fortunato leads me to believe he is a very vindictive character.

The offset sentence of this story reads, The cat valium injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe). The thousand injuries of Fortunato didnt bother Montresor as much, but right when Fortunato insults him, he feels his pride was attacked, so he vowed revenge.

Montresor is cunning in the way he leads Fortunato down to the catacombs. Montresor circulates Fortunato a rumor that there is a bottle of Amontillado in the catacombs and he plans on taking Luchesi, a friend of Montresor who has knowledge of wine, to watch over if the rumor is true. Fortunato also has knowledge of wine and he tells Montresor, Luchesi cannot tell Amontillado from sherry (Poe). Montresor insults Fortunato by saying, and yet some...If you want to get a copious essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
