His/125| well-situated Twenties | Assign ment| Rita Ford 2/3/2012 | The Roaring Twenties The 1920s was a decade like America had always seen before: there were dramatic social, economic, technological and political transmutes that alter the expectations and aspirations of the entire country. During the Roaring Twenties the country was on the move, and the shift was the limit… until the Great Depression exposed how that level of proceeds and prosperity was unsustainable. This paper describes some of the transformations of the 1920s, and how they were graphemeially prompted by the obliterate of World War I. It also explains the birth of mass media, and the pass off from traditionalists against the modernizing forces in society. Social, political and economic changes The Roaring Twenties was a time of economic progress for most people in the country. Many businesses expanded and industries consolidated. The crude sources of industrial employment meant high wages and better living conditions for most city dwellers. For the scratch time in our history more people lived in cities than on farms.

With available disposable income and easy credit, Americans began an economic change towards a culture of consumerism: families wanted to buy the products developed from new technologies like appliances, cars, radios, phonographs, phones, and others. More cars meant more roads, and the expansion of the cities created the suburbs (Davidson, 2006). The strong parsimony and better living standards contributed to a cultural transformation. Many Americans began to take exception traditions and long accepted values. Women wore new clothing styles that uncovered part of their legs and were more adjusted to their bodies. They also began to smoke, drink and socialize with men in public, and became politically assertive (Davidson, 2006).
